In preparation for the workshop, we researched different aspects of Pound Lane Community.
Community context, physical infrastructure, historical events and cultural values, project construction impacts, and finally, the process of proposal, project timeline,
First part of the workshop requires a series of detailed studies of the Pound Land community. Different aspects is studied:
From a bigger scale of view, where does the community locate? And what is its relationship with the surrounding contexts?
Detailed studies and mapping within the community. What are the physically existing infrastructures in the community? Also, what are the historical events occurred that inherited irreplaceable cultural value to the community?
How does the escalator project have impact on the community? What would it look like after the construction is done on the escalator? What other aspect would be changed after the construction.
Finally, the process of the proposal of the Pound Lane escalator project. Timeline of the overall project and the involved parties are introduced.
The studies contributed to further understanding of the community context. It helps to determine what are the important aspect of the community, and what aspects would be influenced by the construction.
